Good morning, my name is Charles Valenz. I am a student of the 9 grade and want to tell you that the Cindy Owens school is a very good school. When I started school at Cindy Owens, it did not have 8th and 9th grades. Then the missionaries through supporters added the two grades. Now I’m in 9th grade and I really want the school to have all grades because I like Cindy Owens school and want to finish all my education. To tell you the truth, the school is doing well while talking to you. I really want and need the 10th grade at Cindy Owens to continue my education. Thank you.

Established in 1999, Sonlight Christian Mission, Inc was incorporated to serve the mission in Gonaives, Haiti. God started working through Melio Jean at the age of 9 while he lived at Cookson Hills Christian Home in Port-au-Prince, 80 miles from his home. Melio had a vision to start a mission and once he obtained his college education in the US, he went back and moved to Gonaives, Haiti. It is there that through today, God has and is blessing Melio and SCM to save souls, educate children and give medical treatment at the mission. A WORD FROM MELIO JEAN,
PASTOR & FOUNDER AT SONLIGHT CHRISTIAN MISSIONS
"When these children grow up, they will change Haiti."
Melio was born in Gonaives, Haiti. With parents that were unable to care for him, Melio was sent to the Cookson Hills Christian Orphanage Home in Port-au-prince. At 9-year-old, he found himself 80 miles from home.
In Gonaives, he wasn't able to go to school. His story is like many children in Haiti today. Education was too expensive for his family to afford. After arriving to the orphanage, he received a scholarship to learn at their school and that changed his life.
He made it his life goal to help other children get an education in Haiti. He fulfilled that goal by launching Sonlight Christian Mission.
Melio he is giving back to his country because someone gave him the gift of an education.
